Hello collector,

This first shop update is a collection of paintings that are very dear to me. They’re part of a growing body of work that represent very different parts of me, painted from 2020 to 2023. There’s a selection of older works you might’ve seen shared on Instagram, and there’s also a completely new series of works on canvas.

‘Out now, will be back for more’ is the name of my newest body of work, a series of paintings embracing looking, searching and being okay with that state of mind. All paintings are full of movement, layered and rich in texture. They’re my most personal paintings to date. Some are based on self portraits, and some are painted intuitively without a reference.

A study on intimacy

I’m fascinated by how people present themselves to the world (virtually or analogue), the confidence they project and how there’s so much you can’t see. I’m in constant search of where and how to fit in to this world and in my paintings I can give my muses just that. I shape their world around them to be just perfect, just for them. 

This body of work was born from loneliness and seeking intimacy during 2021, where I actually visually comforted myself in my paintings. When loneliness made way for comfort and warmth, I had a longing to paint other people I found inspiring. I visited their homes and work to make their surroundings as personal as possible. Making them feel at home in my own shaped world.

The Art Archive

I have a weird relationshop with older work. It always takes some time for me to take a step back and look at a painting objectively. The first few months to a year I’m still very critical because I can’t see the work as a greater whole, but look at it in detail. That’s why I don’t promote a lot of older works.

Since I’ve now been taking painting seriously for about three, four years (yes, it’s only been that short!) I feel much more comfortable looking at older paintings and thinking ’wow, that one’s actually still good! I really enjoy this painting!’. 

I think, as artists, we’re the best at tearing our own work down. Since I’m in my thriving artist era as I call it, I took a moment to re-appreciate some older paintings of mine and I’d like to share them with you again. In a new context. And I think I like them better than when I made them in 2019-2020 because I have some distance from 2019-2020 Roxy. She was onto something.
